DesignTech Consultants were appointed structural engineering design of a bespoke car wash facility. The structural solution comprised reinforced concrete pad foundations supporting a steel portal frame system, designed to accommodate large clear spans and open operational areas.

About This Project

Particular engineering challenges arose due to the irregular portal frame spacing and complex connection detailing required to suit the architectural layout and equipment clearances. These constraints demanded precise structural analysis and bespoke steel connection design to ensure global stability, efficient load transfer, and compliance with relevant design standards.
As part of the value engineering process, preliminary and detailed structural analyses were undertaken using Tekla Structural Designer to deliver an efficient and well-optimised structural solution. The optimised structural scheme resulted in an almost 7% reduction in total steel weight, enhancing both cost efficiency and environmental performance.
Other Projects

Burton Road
2.5-storey detached residence on a sloping site using traditional load-bearing masonry, trench-fill foundations, timber floors and roof, with integrated steelwork to manage level changes efficiently and maintain structural stability.

Dale Street
Bespoke three-storey countryside residence with detached outbuilding, piled foundations and reinforced concrete ground beams, precast floors, and steel tabletop roof, overcoming challenging ground conditions through efficient, cost-effective structural engineering.

Jamia Mosque
Steel-framed mosque with precast flooring, basement walls, and underpinning, utilising pad and pile foundations. Optimised steel design reduced pile loads, improving sustainability and efficiency within a congested urban environment.
