Jamia Mosque is a prominent mosque in Derby, serving a large local community and acting as an important centre for religious and community activities. We were appointed as the Structural Engineer for the project, responsible for the detailed design, analysis, and coordination of all structural elements of the building. This site very busy street and congested.

About This Project

The project involved the structural design of a steel-framed building incorporating pre-cast flooring systems. The design included basement walls and underpinning to address existing ground conditions and support requirements.
The substructure comprised a combination of pad and pile foundations, designed to ensure stability, effective load transfer, and long-term performance. Designtech optimised the superstructure steel design, reducing pile loads and enabling smaller foundation sizes. This improved structural efficiency while lowering embodied carbon through reduced material usage and more sustainable construction practices.
Careful coordination ensured the successful integration of modern construction techniques with traditional methods, delivering a durable, efficient, and refined structure. Designtech worked closely with AK Architects to provide Structural Engineering and Drainage Design services, ensuring safe, compliant, and well-coordinated solutions aligned with the architectural vision.
